Crime Rate Down as Thin Blue Line Gets Stronger
 SUSTAINABLE SHOPPING:

The 2017-2018 Crime Report shows the crime rate overall has dropped
by 4.4 per cent in the north of Moreton Bay.

Chris Whiting said it reflects the increase of thirty-two extra
police in the northern Moreton area since the Palaszczuk
       Government was elected.
“The Justice Report and the Crime Report show criminals are
facing more charges and more arrests because this government
has delivered more Police and more resources for the Moreton
       region,” said Chris Whiting.
“One of the first actions of the Palaszczuk Government was
to establish an independent crime statistics body,” said Chris
       Whiting.
Statistics for the north Moreton region in the reports include:
       • offences against property rates down 4 per cent
       • break-ins down 8.9 per cent
       • the rate of shop break-ins down by 22.9 per cent
       • fraud dropping 35.8 per cent
       • breaches in domestic and family violence protection orders
          down 2.1 per cent
       • drug offences down 2.2 per cent.
       • A slight increase in overall offences against the person
          (1.1%)
       • assaults are up 2.6 per cent
       • rape and attempted rape up 19.9 per cent.
“There are more police in Queensland now than ever before,” Chris Whiting said.
“We will also deliver an additional five hundred and thirty-five Police personnel over the next three years.
“This government will continue to provide police with the resources, training and technology they need to keep communities safe,”
       Chris Whiting said.
